Job summary

Hydro Ottawa is seeking a Power Cable Technician to construct, maintain, operate and repair its underground distribution system, including installation and connection of cable and equipment.

The role requires journeyperson electrical credentials and experience with cable jointing, terminating and identifying, plus safety training. A hybrid work model is offered, with on-call duties and emergency response as part of the job.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson in electrical utility or high voltage cable experience.
• Ability to obtain MEARIE Underground Power Cable Technician certificate or equivalent.
• First Aid/CPR, WHMIS and confined space entry accreditation is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and test cable and electrical equipment in underground distribution systems.
• Perform live line work following approved methods and safety standards.
• Coordinate work with crews, contractors and customers; provide on-call duties as required.
