Job summary

Thyssen Mining Construction of Canada is seeking experienced Long Hole Drill operators for underground production. You will run mechanized drilling equipment to execute production holes per engineered plans, ensure hole depth and accuracy, and work with the underground team to maintain safety and productivity.

Responsibilities include setting up drills, inspecting and maintaining equipment, monitoring conditions, recording progress, and coordinating with engineering and other crews.

Qualifications

• Experience in underground gold mining is preferred.
• Read drill plans, layouts, and survey markings.
• Underground safety and drilling practices are understood.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment troubleshooting.
• Required underground mining certifications and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate long-hole production drills in an underground hard-rock mining environment.
• Drill production holes according to drill plans.
• Set up and align drilling equipment for hole depth and accuracy.
• Inspect equipment and perform routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting.
• Monitor drilling conditions and identify issues such as fractured ground or hole deviation.
• Record drilling progress and equipment issues.
• Inspect work areas for underground hazards.
• Follow safety procedures and production requirements.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineering, blasting, maintenance, and other crews.
