We are seeking experienced Underground Mechanics for one of our project sites in Nunavut.

Job Requirements:

MATRIX is looking for experienced Journeyperson Underground Mechanics who are team-oriented, adaptable, highly motivated, and detail-focused. You will play a key role at our remote camps by supporting the team and ensuring that all client equipment is properly maintained and serviced. This position reports to the Team Lead and/or Maintenance Supervisors. Experience with underground equipment is required, including proficiency in Sandvik and Maclean equipment. The role is based in a remote camp in Nunavut, operating on a 14-day fly-in/fly-out rotation.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including scheduling, installing upgrades, controlling corrosion, and winterization procedures.
  • Correct equipment deficiencies through repair, disassembly, reassembly, and replacement of major assemblies and components, including electrical systems and adjustments.
  • Operate and maintain Sandvik Scoops, Dumps, drills, and Underground crew trucks.
  • Work with Maclean Bolters and support equipment.
  • Conduct test drives and adjust vehicle controls and systems.
  • Maintain vehicle appearance and keep records of services and repairs.
  • Operate shop equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns, and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Work in remote sites outside of a shop environment.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
  • Manage supplies and inventory, including ordering and verifying receipt.
  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings.
  • Ensure a safe work environment following corporate safety practices and report unsafe conditions.
Preferred Licensing & Certifications:
  • Journeyperson Red Seal Certification as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic is required.
  • 3-5 years of mining equipment maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience as an Underground Mechanic in a remote camp setting is required.
  • Familiarity with Volvo Diesel Engines is preferred.
