Job summary

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has new exciting opportunities for an Underground Electrician at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off.

Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent, you will provide electrical support for underground and surface equipment, adhering to BC Electrical Code and safety standards while running preventive maintenance and calibrations as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency.
• 3-5 years of underground experience as an Underground Electrician.
• Red Seal Journeyman Electrician preferred; 4th year apprentices considered.
• Sandvik development drill maintenance experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of OH&S Act, BC Electrical Code, and PLC control systems helpful.
• Experience with high voltage distribution systems (13.8kV, 600V MCCs, VFDs).
• Ability to work independently and in a team with professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Mine site safety rules and ensure safety of others.
• Read drawings, blueprints, schematics and determine layout of equipment.
• Install, inspect, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, conduits and lighting.
• Maintain underground HV supply, dewatering, ventilation and services systems.
• Test electrical equipment for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Maintain substations, switchgear, transformers, meters, regulators and reactors.
• Maintain motors, generators, control systems, and related devices.
• Troubleshoot and repair industrial control and automation systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and keep records.
• Perform general repairs on sump pumps and pumping stations.
• Install, calibrate industrial instrumentation as required.
• Document reports detailing work performed and checks.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, subcontractors and client.
• Practice good housekeeping in work area and equipment.
• Maintain valid driver’s license; manual transmission experience required.
• Comply with PPE requirements in work areas.
• Provide basic hand tools; most tools provided by site.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
