Requirements
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License and First Aid & CPR Certification required.
  • Use of Force training and experience is mandatory.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a loss prevention security role, preferably in plain clothes retail loss prevention, or minimum two experiences as a Supervisor/Tactical Guard in a Healthcare, Armed Guard, Respite Shelter, Mall/Retail, Government, or Campus environment with strong customer service skills and a solid understanding of the Criminal Code of Canada and relevant provincial laws.
  • In-house retail loss prevention experience is an asset.
  • Prior experience in identifying and deterring potential shoplifters.
  • Skilled in apprehending shoplifters, processing arrests, and preserving evidence, including video footage.
  • Strong ability to assess and execute authorized arrests.
  • Experience liaising with security guards and law enforcement.
  • Proficient in incident report documentation and online police report filing.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between retail locations in London & Brantford.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
  • Background in military, police, or law enforcement is an asset.
  • Educational background in Police Foundations, Criminology, or Protection Security & Investigation is a plus.
The Day To Day

Each shift, you will maintain the safety and security of the retail environment by conducting surveillance and deterring theft and criminal activity. Your responsibilities include:

  • Detecting and apprehending individuals involved in theft or other crimes, following legal and procedural guidelines, and collaborating with your security team and law enforcement.
  • Monitoring CCTV and inspecting premises to prevent security breaches.
  • Providing emergency support during incidents such as fires, medical emergencies, or security threats.
  • Preparing detailed incident reports for legal or operational purposes.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.

Training

Completion of Use of Force, Lawful Subject Restraint, and Crisis Management training, with annual re-certification, is required. Training is provided during onboarding and through Securiguard University courses.
