Job description

Description:

Under the direction of the Principal/Vice-Principal, uncertified casual occasional teachers support students within the classroom, provide supervision and must be able to respond appropriately when issues arise. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering interactive lessons, and provide support virtually as required.

The uncertified casual occasional teacher must possess an understanding of and a willingness to support the mission of a Catholic School system.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  1. Individuals enrolled in a Faculty of Education.
  2. Ability to ensure the safety and security of students.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students.
  4. Willingness to work with students with differing needs and capabilities.
  5. Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of student information.
  6. Ability to work with students with different cultural and language backgrounds.
  7. Ability to work as a team player, follow instructions and use initiative.
  8. Excellent computer skills, communication skills and organizational skills.
  9. Experience working/volunteering with children and adolescents.
  10. Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment.
  11. An updated résumé and cover letter.
  12. A minimum of two professional letters of reference.
  13. A current positive Catholic Pastoral Letter of Reference (dated within the last year).
  14. A current original Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within one year).

Location: Elementary and Secondary Catholic Schools within the Greater Hamilton Area.

Hours/days of work: Based on the needs of the Board. School start/end times vary.

Salary: $186.00 Per day
