Job Summary

This position provides high-quality Ultrasound Imaging while delivering exceptional customer service. The sonographer will assist Radiologists with exams and coordinate patient care with other technologists.

General Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform all Ultrasound procedures.
  • If in a float position, be available to work at any of HMA’s Imaging locations.
  • Adhere to Ultrasound quality control standards.
  • Manage Imaging records.
  • Triage patients to ensure smooth departmental flow.
  • Record patient health history, note abnormal conditions, and prepare patients for exams.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of supplies.
  • Set up and clean exam rooms and equipment daily.
  • Follow infection control policies for handling waste.
  • Adhere to Quality Control and Service Standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must have predictable and consistent attendance.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education, Experience, and Certifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasonography Program.
  • Certification with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Maintain licensure by completing 30 ultrasound-related CME credits every 3 years.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience and Vascular Registry certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of ultrasound principles and patient care.
  • Familiarity with examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures.
  • Understanding of safety hazards and precautions.
  • Skill in using ultrasound equipment.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to maintain quality standards and recognize problems.
  • Calm and effective reaction in emergencies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply guidelines.
  • Proficiency in computer use.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Stand for 8-10 hours daily.
  • Regular walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Lift at least 10-15 lbs.
  • Assist with patient transfers and positioning.
  • Push patients in wheelchairs.
  • Handle objects and communicate effectively.
  • Work in a clinical setting with exposure to communicable diseases.
