About the position

As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will perform procedures associated with the diagnostic and therapeutic treatment services provided by Anova. Your tasks will include performing high-quality ultrasound studies; conducting complete female assessments, including endo-vaginal scan, follicular monitoring, and obstetrical scanning of all stages of pregnancy; and assisting physicians in ultrasound-guided procedures. You will ensure that documentation is current, accurate, and accessible. Shifts are typically between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. Success in this role requires a combination of empathy, care, and skill. Crucially, you will share the Founder, Dr. Dixon’s commitment to being the gold standard for successful reproductive health and fertility centres. This position reports to the Ultrasound Supervisor.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
General
  • Collaborates effectively with team members across departments

Role-Specific
  • Performs high-quality ultrasound studies, adhering to standards as directed by College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario, Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine
  • Performs female assessments, including endo-vaginal scans, follicular monitoring, obstetrical scanning at all stages of pregnancy (early viability, OB/NT scans)
  • During cycle-monitoring and sonos, refers to notes before taking patients and check whether any specific tests need to be done
  • Prints complicated sonos and places these in binders for review by physicians
  • Assists physicians in providing ultrasound-guided procedures, such as sonohysterograms
  • Provides quality service, collaborates with patients and team members, and adheres to appointments schedule to avoid delays
  • Refrains from showing images to patients and defers to physicians for interpretation
  • Demonstrates empathetic, kind, and friendly approach to patient care
  • Anticipates and handles day-to-day workload and ensures that preparations and procedures are performed effectively and to highest possible standard
  • Identifies abnormal patient conditions and alerts supervisor, physicians, or nurses to such conditions promptly
  • Ensures proper set-up of ultrasound equipment to produce optimal visualization of structures, in accordance with protocol manual
  • Complies with safety and security procedures, reports unsafe conditions, and uses equipment and material properly
  • Prepares and provides incident reports to supervisor promptly so that any issues can be addressed
  • Records ultrasound findings in sonographer report and provides initial interpretation and communication of relevant data to medical staff
  • Assists with maintenance of ultrasound equipment and cleaning of ultrasound rooms, adhering to standardized infection control protocols
  • Performs audits of equipment to ensure that this functions correctly
  • Prepares site for visitation by Independent Health Facility program or any other body that Anova depends on for certification and licensing
  • Ensures that records are current, correct, complete, and traceable
  • Maintains clinical competence through practice, education, and research
  • Takes notes at seminars and conferences and shares these with supervisor so that others may benefit from new knowledge
  • Consistently wears scrubs while on duty
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Successful completion of ultrasound training program
  • Current registration with CMRTO, ARDMS and/or Sonography Canada
  • At least two (2) years of experience, including extensive transvaginal scanning, scanning all stages of pregnancy, and working in team environment
  • Track record of regular and punctual attendance and schedule adherence
  • Proficient in relevant computer software, including MS Office
  • Familiar with Colour Doppler, sonohysterography, and 3D ultrasound
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to explain procedures to patients and check for understanding
  • Thoroughness and keen attention to detail
  • Availability to work outside of regular business hours and participate in weekend and statutory holiday rotations
