Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience with heavy-duty underground vehicles preferred.
  • Motivated individual capable of working independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

  • Wash mining equipment and maintain a safe work area.
  • Perform routine inspections and assist mechanics as needed.
  • Manage inventory and ensure proper disposal of waste.

About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold District’s Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality. Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Washing mining equipment and components as required
  2. Maintaining the Wash Bay to promote a safe and efficient work area
  3. Performing routine and daily inspections of applicable equipment and work area
  4. Completing work orders as assigned and tracking completion of tasks
  5. Bring parts to and from the Underground shops, with the use of an Underground Boom Truck or Underground Toyota.
  6. Replenish shop inventory (parts oil, etc.).
  7. Empty all waste and recycling bins from shops and put them in proper disposal area (on surface)
  8. Responsible for surface to underground deliveries.
  9. Assist the mechanic as required and perform other duties as assigned.
  10. Create work orders (with minor supervision).

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision
  2. Previous shop or yard experience considered an asset
  3. Effective oral and written communication skills
  4. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  5. Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  6. Physically fit with the ability/capability of lifting 50 pounds
  7. Module 13, Module 14, Module 24 is preferable along with basic underground common core
  8. Drivers License - G Class
  9. Completion of secondary school
  10. Have a minimum of 1-2 years, working with different heavy-duty underground vehicles

Rotation:

  1. 7 days on / 7 days off, rotating days and nights
