The University of Lethbridge Department of Music, U of L Music Conservatory, and the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra are pleased to announce positions in violin teaching and performance for the 2025-2026 concert season and academic year. A complete application may serve for all three positions or, if desired, you may indicate which position(s) for which you would like to be considered.

The Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra, Assistant Concertmaster position for the 2025-26 concert season offers 45 services at $75.00 per service. The LSO rehearses Monday evenings September – May. Violin Instructor, 1-year contract – September 1, 2025 – August 31, 2026

Days & Hours of Work: Flexible based on Instructor’s Availability Hourly Rate:

Estimated at around $52/hr, negotiable.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The University of Lethbridge Conservatory of Music invites applications for the position of Violin Instructor to teach students of all ages. The successful candidate should have:

  • A Master’s degree in music with violin teaching experience; experience teaching young children is considered an asset.
  • The successful applicant will be assigned a teaching studio at the Conservatory of Music and will have access to performance spaces and have opportunities for their students to participate in masterclasses, recitals and other events.
  • This position will be able to work around the needs of the Department of Music’s Studio Teacher assignments, as necessary. Based on the current need in this community, the estimated amount of teaching in the first year will be approximately 10-15 hours per week, for approximately 32 weeks per year.
  • Please note that this position is an independent contractor and not an employee, servant or agent of the University of Lethbridge.
Studio Teacher — Violin

The University of Lethbridge, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Music, invites applications for a Studio Teacher whose primary expertise is in Violin, effective September 2025. The University aspires to hire individuals who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be expected to teach Studio Violin.
  • Studio instruction will be dependent on enrollments and paid on a fee-for-service basis (approximately $884/student/semester for private lessons and $73.65/hour for masterclasses/jury and recital evaluation).
  • A minimum of a Master’s degree is required. This position does not fall under the University of Lethbridge Academic Staff Collective agreement.
