Job description

TwelvEighty Bar & Grill offers a great selection of delicious food at an affordable price and is located on campus at McMaster University.

The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking top-quality food according to TwelvEighty specifications and server orders.

Shifts: Various shifts, usually days, but may include evenings and occasional weekends.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Experience in customer service-oriented industries.

Effort & Responsibility:

  • Ability to make quick decisions, especially in customer service situations.

Working Conditions:

  • Work environment is pleasant but challenging, often requiring multitasking.
  • Loud, noisy, smoky environment.
  • Potential risk of personal injury.
  • Work during late evenings and weekends.
  • Heavy lifting may be required.

Training and Experience:

  • Previous restaurant experience preferred.
  • Experience in a campus environment preferred.
  • Computer skills are an asset.

Equipment:

  • P.O.S. system, printer, sharp knives, tongs, ladles, serving spoons, and various cooking equipment (oven, fryers, broiler, stove, dishwasher).

Rate: $21 per hour for experienced non-students, approximately 20-30 hours per week.
