WestCorp Solutions is seeking an experienced Turnaround Planner with a Boilermaker background to support our client in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This contract role follows a rotation of 10 days on, 4 days off, and is intended to support an ongoing operational requirement. For candidates local to the area, daily client-provided transportation is available to and from the site. Camp accommodations are available for non-local candidates; however, individuals are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Fort McMurray at the beginning and end of each rotation.

Key Responsibilitie

  • This role is focused specifically on planning activitie s as part of turnaround events. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed work packages and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure execution readiness
  • Develop detailed work plans for static equipment repairs and inspections, including tasks, durations, labor types, materials, tools, equipment, permits, and safety requirements
  • Conduct field walkdowns to verify scope, confirm asset condition, and capture accurate planning details
  • Ensure plans meet turnaround scope objectives and reflect Suncor’s safety and quality standards
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, procurement, and execution teams to validate job plans and resolve planning gaps
  • Identify and reserve required materials, tools, and services in SAP PM; ensure accuracy in BOMs and work orders
  • Maintain technical documentation and plant history records, updating as-built conditions and lessons learned
  • Estimate labor hours and material costs for planned scope items
  • Prepare and maintain job plans to enable effective scheduling and execution by downstream teams
  • Support continuous improvement by contributing to planning best practices and turnaround readiness reviews
  • Flag potential delays or scope changes early to support contingency planning

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Boilermaker Certificate required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in turnaround planning for mechanical / static equipment
  • Proficient in SAP PM, with demonstrated experience creating and managing work orders and BOMs.
  • Strong working knowledge of maintenance planning standards, permit-to-work systems, and industrial safety practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments.
  • Valid safety certifications (e.g., OSSA BSO, CSO) required.
