Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking an Intermediate Tunnel Systems Discipline Specialist to join our national tunnel and ground engineering practice.

You will work on projects from concept through construction in a multi-disciplinary team across North America, with opportunities to travel to Virginia Beach or other sites a few times yearly. You will perform tunnel and infrastructure design tasks, electrical calculations, and support graphics and business development efforts while

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Multidisciplined infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Experience with underground structures, buildings or water treatment plants.
  • Previous design experience for tunnels, structural systems, underground structures, buildings or water treatment plants.
  • Engineer-in-Training designation, or eligibility to obtain EIT status.

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams across North America.
  • Undertaking designs, modeling, calculations, reports, drawings, specifications, investigations, and bills of quantities for tunnel infrastructure projects including power and street lighting.
  • Electrical design calculations: power demand estimation, voltage drop, lighting levels; design of MV/LV networks.
  • Aid in graphics development.
  • Marketing and business development support, including proposals and presentations.
  • Represent Jacobs at meetings and public hearings.

Your impact

Jacobs, has a great opportunity for an Intermediate Tunnel Systems Discipline Specialist to join and help grow our national tunnel and ground engineering practice. You’ll work as part of our practice consisting of over 100 engineers in North America, and over 800 globally. As a Tunnel Systems Engineer you will have the opportunity to follow projects from the conceptual phase through the construction phase, working on a variety of complex transportation projects.

When you join us, you’ll be responsible for:
  • Work in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams across North America. Share technical knowledge across geographical boundaries to foster innovative project solutions.
  • Undertaking designs, modeling, calculations, reports, drawings, specifications, investigations, and bills of quantities for tunnel infrastructure projects including power and street lighting.
  • Performing electrical design calculations such as power demand estimation, voltage drop calculations, lighting illumination level calculations design of power networks for medium voltage and low voltage.
  • Aid in the development of graphics
  • Assists in the development and execution of local marketing and business development, researches and tracks future project opportunities, initiates and reviews proposals and participates in interviews and presentations.
  • Represents Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings relative to assigned projects.

The final candidate could be located in any Jacobs Office and must be willing to travel to Virginia Beach or other project locations a few times a year.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Multidisciplined infrastructure engineering experience which could include structural, electrical or mechanical design
  • Experience related to the design of underground structures, buildings or water treatment plants and their associated systems.
  • Previous experience with design assignments for tunnels, structural systems, underground structures, buildings or water treatment plants.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation, or eligibility to obtain EIT status.

The base salary range for this position is $72,600.00 to $98,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across Ontario, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
