Job description

We are currently seeking a "TSYS Technical Lead " for a contract role with one of our clients in Toronto, ON / Remote .

Duration : 06+ Months

Key Responsibilities :

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex applications within a Canadian banking environment.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams across mainframe and web platforms.

Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable and secure technology solutions.

Oversee integration of TSYS mainframe systems with web and distributed applications.

Drive best practices in development, deployment, code reviews, and documentation.

Troubleshoot issues related to application performance, message queues, and API traffic.

Ensure regulatory compliance and security standards are met across all software components.

Required Skills and Experience :

Deep hands-on experience with TSYS mainframe systems , including COBOL, CICS, DB2 .

In-depth understanding of credit card processing platforms, batch and real-time transaction flows.

Strong debugging and performance tuning skills in legacy systems.

Web Application Development :

Proven experience leading and developing Java-based (or similar) web applications.

Proficiency in designing and scaling enterprise-grade application architectures .

Familiarity with modern front-end and back-end frameworks and deployment pipelines.

MQ Messaging :

Expertise in IBM MQ , including configuration, message flow optimization, and troubleshooting.

Understanding of asynchronous messaging patterns , message persistence, and error handling.

RESTful API Services :

Experience designing and developing secure, scalable RESTful APIs .

Understanding of API Gateway strategies, OAuth2 authentication , throttling, and rate limiting.

Ability to implement microservices that integrate with both legacy and modern systems.

Strong knowledge of Canadian banking systems, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks .

Familiarity with interbank settlement systems, credit card networks , and compliance requirements (e.g., OSFI, PCI-DSS).

Preferred Qualifications :

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Previous experience working in a Tier 1 Canadian bank or a banking platform provider .

Familiarity with Agile methodologies , CI / CD pipelines , and DevOps practices .
