Purpose

As a Trust Officer within Scotia Wealth Management, you will be a trusted relationship manager supporting the company's strategy and revenue goals by delivering a best-in-class client experience tailored to client needs and in compliance with policies and procedures. You will also identify and pursue new business opportunities both within and outside Scotia Wealth Management.

You will be client-centric, proactive, and skilled at building and maintaining deep client relationships with detailed technical knowledge of Estates & Trusts. Your primary responsibilities include managing, overseeing, and administering accounts for clients, beneficiaries, and Co-Trustees.

By understanding client goals, needs, and circumstances, you will coordinate with Scotiabank and Scotia Wealth Management’s team of experts to deliver comprehensive wealth strategies.

Key Job Accountabilities
  1. Relationship Management & Client Service
  • Provide a proactive, personalized client experience to high-net-worth clients and beneficiaries through timely, accurate account administration, technical expertise, integrity, and responsiveness to client needs.
  • Build and maintain effective internal and external partnerships to deliver seamless financial solutions.
  • Contribute to branch profitability by assisting with accurate forecasting and fee collection, and recommend non-standard fee arrangements when appropriate.
  • New Business Development
    • Identify new business opportunities through account management.
    • Establish strong relationships with retail branches to identify and close fee opportunities.
    • Develop acquisition strategies and maintain a prospect pipeline for sustainable growth.
    • Ensure account administration complies with policies and standards, escalating issues as needed.
    • Maintain knowledge of legislative, administrative, and economic issues affecting account management, especially in estates, trusts, wills, and taxation, and communicate effectively with clients and advisors.
  • Additional Accountabilities
    • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank resources.
    Education/Experience
    • Professional and/or industry accreditation plus a university degree.
    • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
    • Successful high-net-worth client relationship management experience.
    • Membership or commitment to CSI and/or STEP.
    • Proven ability to deliver proactive, best-in-class client service.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation skills, and professionalism.
    • Change management skills and adaptability to technology and reporting platform updates.
    • Ability to build and maintain deep relationships and partnerships.
    • Proven success in achieving financial and business development targets.

    Note: Due to a language needs assessment by Scotiabank, the successful candidate must be able to communicate in English and French, as they will serve English-speaking clients frequently.
