Job summary

Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP in Vancouver is seeking a Trust Officer to join the Accounting Department, reporting to the Director, Finance. The role requires independence, flexibility, and strong communication and client service skills.

Key duties include processing trust transactions in ELITE 3E, initiating banking transactions, ensuring policy compliance, preparing deposits and trust cheques, and generating ad hoc analyses.

Qualifications

  • 3–4 years of trust experience.
  • Degree/diploma in accounting or business.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a law firm is an asset.
  • Detail oriented with good communication & organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and Excel proficiency.
  • Knowledge of provincial trust rules is an asset.
  • Familiarity with ELITE 3E and online cash management software is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Processing (recording) trust transactions in ELITE 3E.
  • Initiating banking transactions of trust funds through online portals.
  • Reviewing all trust instructions for compliance with Firm policies.
  • Preparing bank deposits, wire instructions to banks and trust cheques.
  • Placing and liquidating investments of clients’ trust funds as instructed.
  • Ad hoc analyses and reporting on trust activity.
  • Reviewing and filing trust instruction documentation and escrow agreements.

Role Overview:

Our Vancouver office is currently recruiting for a Trust Officer in our Accounting Department, reporting to the Director, Finance. The successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as being flexible with great communication and client service skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:
  • 3-4 years of trust experience.
  • Degree/diploma in accounting or business.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a law firm is an asset.
  • Detail oriented with good communication & organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of provincial law societies’ trust rules and regulations is an asset.
  • Familiarity with ELITE 3E and online cash management banking software is an asset.
Employment Type:

Permanent, Full-Time 4 days per week in office

Salary:

$67,000 – $78,000 Annually commensurate with skills and experience
