We, Canadian Prairie Transport Inc., are hiring a Truck Mechanic.

Salary: $30.00/hour (depending on experience) for 40-60 hours per week.

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent, Overtime, Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend, Night, Flexible hours, Part Time.

Start Date: As soon as possible.

Positions Available: 01.

NOC Group: Automotive Service Technicians, Truck and Bus Mechanics and Mechanical Repairers (72410).

NOC Job Title: Truck Mechanic.

Job Location: Yard Address 85 Wheatfield Road Stony Mountain MB R0C 3A0.

Job Duties
  • Perform preventive maintenance on commercial trailers, using various hand tools and machinery to repair trailers, welding on trailers.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems including chassis, frame, cab, body, engine, and drive train, air brakes, steering, fuel, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems including structural, brake, and electrical systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specifications.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor or management to determine whether to repair or replace units.
  • Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools. Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other departments.
  • Service, diagnose, repair, maintain, update, and clean equipment pre- and post-trip.
Employment Requirements
  • Completion of secondary school is required. Vocational training or program is an asset but not mandatory.
  • 3-5 years of work experience or a 4-year truck and transport mechanic or truck-trailer repair apprenticeship is required.
  • Basic English communication skills required to interact with drivers, suppliers, and management.
  • Trade certification for truck and transport mechanic is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Class 1 driver’s license is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Overtime pay at 1.5 times the regular rate applies after 40 hours per week or 8 hours per day.
  • Work conditions involve physically demanding tasks and handling heavy loads.
