Job summary

Eassons Transportation Group in Kentville, NS is seeking a Team Cross Border Truck Driver with Class 1 experience. This permanent full‑time role supports two-person team operations and cross-border shipments across Canada and the United States.

The position offers a salary range of CAD 63,500 to 89,500 annually, 40–50 hours per week, and benefits. Start date is as soon as possible with weekly pay and overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years as a truck driver.
  • Education: Secondary school graduation certificate is required.
  • Must hold a Class 1 or A license with air brake endorsement.
  • Cross-border driving experience is preferred; willing to travel internationally.
  • WHMIS certification and defensive driving training are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
  • Load and unload goods and operate Class 1 or articulated trucks.
  • Inspect vehicle condition, tires, lights and brakes; perform pre-trip inspections.
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
  • Communicate with central dispatch and ensure cross-border paperwork is accurate.

Eassons operates approximately 325 trucks and employs over 500 people. Eassons Transportation Group provides dry and temperature controlled TL/LTL services across Canada and the United States.

Salary: $63,500 to 89,500 annually (To be negotiated) / 40 to 50 hours per Week


Minimum wage is guaranteed



  • A DRIVER WITH ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE IS PAID $0.285 PER TRUCK MILE

Tasks:



  • Professionalism in customer service

  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy

  • Load and unload goods

  • Operate and drive Class 1 or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials

  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment

  • Perform brake adjustments

  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle

  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch

  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption


Credentials:



  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement

  • Defensive Driving Course

  • Driver's License (Class 1 or A)

  • Forklift Operator Certification

  • Professional Driver Improvement Certificate

  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate


Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Trans-border documentation, Trip reports


Type of trucking and equipment: Refrigerated Tractor-trailer


Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, Trip recorder (on-board computer)


Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul


Security and safety: Valid passport, Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract), Drug test


Transportation/travel information: Drive manual transmission vehicle, Valid driver's licence, Willing to travel cross-border, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel internationally, Willing to travel overnight


Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail, Physically demanding, Sitting


Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
