Job summary

Kent Building Supplies in Charlottetown, PEI is seeking a reliable Truck Driver to join our delivery team, delivering building materials to homes and construction sites with safety and customer service at the forefront. You will perform pre-trip checks, load and unload, coordinate with dispatch, and maintain proper driver records.

The role requires physical fitness (lift up to 55 lbs), ability to work in all weather, and a customer‑minded, professional approach.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Proven work experience as a delivery driver.
  • Valid driver’s license class 5.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, fast-paced, and dynamic workplace.
  • Self-motivated, punctual, reliable, and safety oriented.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills (Bilingual English/French will be considered an asset).
  • Basic hand tool skills.
  • Must have Safety mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the lumber yard, warehouse and inside the store actively helping customers
  • Load and unloads product
  • Prepare trucks for loading and assist warehouse staff as required
  • Ensure proper vehicle maintenance and safety
  • Maintain contact with dispatch and work to resolve any issues
  • Verify load security and accuracy
  • Report defects, violations, accidents, or injuries
  • Maintain a professional behavior
  • Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Job Description

As a Truck Driver, you will be part of the team that provides delivery services for our customers displaying the highest standards of safety and excellent customer service. You will be responsible for monitoring truck maintenance and keeping driver’s records requirements such as daily check list. This job can be physically demanding. Starting wage is $18.17 per hour, depending on experience.

  • Deliver materials to private homes and construction sites safely – Materials include Windows and doors, Cement, Shingles, and other building materials.

  • Work in the lumber yard, warehouse and inside the store actively helping customers

  • Load and unloads product

  • Prepare trucks for loading and assist warehouse staff as required

  • Maintain contact with dispatch and work to resolve any issues

  • Verify load security and accuracy
