Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Truck Driver, you will be part of the team providing local delivery services to Irving Shipyards and vendors, including order picking and forklift operations. You will operate various trucks such as box trucks, curtain side trucks, and tractors with 47' trailers on a rotational basis. Responsibilities include monitoring truck maintenance and maintaining driver records, such as daily checklists.

Monday - Friday

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Deliver materials to Irving shipbuilding sites and local vendor warehouses safely.
  2. Load and unload products.
  3. Prepare trucks for loading and assist warehouse staff as required.
  4. Ensure proper vehicle maintenance and safety.
  5. Maintain contact with supervisors and resolve issues promptly.
  6. Verify load security and accuracy.
  7. Report defects, violations, accidents, or injuries.
  8. Maintain professional behavior at all times.
  9. Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  2. Proven work experience as a delivery driver.
  3. Valid Class 1 License.
  4. Drivers Abstract required; reimbursement provided upon hire.
  5. Ability to work in all weather conditions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  6. Ability to drive manual transmission.
  7. Self-motivated, punctual, and reliable.
  8. Strong safety mindset.
  9. High attention to detail.
  10. Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  11. Ability to perform physical work.

All employees of Bayside Distribution must obtain and maintain a personal security clearance and controlled goods approval. To qualify, applicants must not have resided outside Canada for six months or more within the last five years. These clearances require police, employment, and personal references.
