Mission

As a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., Terus Construction is seeking to hire a seasonal Dump Truck Driver based in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate a truck unit safely in city traffic.
• Perform trip inspections on equipment to ensure safety and roadworthiness.
• Comply with applicable legislation, including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver’s hours, and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to verify mechanical and safety equipment is functional.
• Maintain daily logs, inspection logs, and other necessary documentation.
• Assess situations in accordance with the principles of the Code of Ethics.
• Perform other duties as required.

Technical Skills

• Ability to operate trucks safely and perform daily inspections.
• Some mechanical aptitude.
• Efficient and safe backing-up skills.
• Knowledge of road construction procedures.
• Understanding of safety legislation and the ability to perform pre- and post-trip checks, as well as accurately complete driver logs.
• Ability to identify safety hazards.

Requirements

• Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License required.

Working Conditions

• Travel as needed.
• Overtime as required.
• Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
• Compliance with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing.
• Work is performed outdoors, potentially in inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Compensation

The anticipated hourly wage is at least $37.31, with final compensation based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
