Responsibilities

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions.
• Provide professional customer service.
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.

• Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs.
• Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Communicate with central dispatch.
• Record cargo details, hours of service, and fuel consumption.

Job description

Education :

• No degree, certificate or diploma required

Tasks :

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS), or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Provide professional customer service
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee vehicle condition and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
• Perform brake adjustments
• Perform emergency roadside repairs
• Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle maintenance
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Record cargo details, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
