Job summary

A logistics company in Peel Region is seeking an experienced truck driver to operate and drive trucks for transporting goods. You will be responsible for planning routes, ensuring safety and security of cargo, and performing vehicle inspections. A valid AZ class license and experience in vehicle operation are required for this permanent position.

• Air Brakes Endorsement necessary.

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Tasks

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Load and unload goods
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Perform brake adjustments
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
