Job description

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: Experience an asset

Work Setting: Various locations

Tasks:

  1. Load and unload goods
  2. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  3. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  4. Perform brake adjustments
  5. Perform emergency roadside repairs
  6. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  7. Perform preventive maintenance
  8. Receive and relay information to central dispatch
  9. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  10. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses:

  1. Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
  2. Driver's License (Class 1 or A)

Documentation Knowledge:

  1. Maintenance and repair reports
  2. Trip reports

Type of Trucking and Equipment:

  1. Logging, off-highway

Security and Safety:

  1. Driving record check (abstract)
