Qualifications

Position Summary
Operating a commercial truck (day-cab) in Toronto and the GTA, short haul, with the operation of a truck mounted picker/log loader with grapple attachment to transport and unload poles to and from specified destinations by performing the duties below:

Key Responsibilities

  1. Load and unload poles by using a log loader/boom with grapple attachment and including other trucks. Place poles into yard bunks, and onto other truck/trailer combinations. Delivers to customer yards and job site locations, staking loads may be required. Unloading/Loading of pole rail cars and designated rail yards.
  2. Deliver to customer yards and job site locations, primarily in Toronto and GTA.
  3. Maintain records, documents, permits and valid licenses for assigned truck/equipment. Comply with ELD regulations.
  4. Assist in maintenance, service of the trucks, yard and support equipment as required.
  5. Drive truck to destination including during adverse weather conditions and emergency storm response.
  6. Responsible for quantities and correct sizes and types to match shipping and receiving tickets to ensure accurate inventory.
  7. Ensure load tickets are signed, dated, and submitted on time upon completion.
  8. Maintain truck log according to provincial, State and Federal regulations.
  9. Maintain phone contact with Dispatch/Supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
  10. Perform daily pre- and post-trip DOT inspections on truck and trailer, check oil, coolant, tires, connections and pins, etc.
  11. Perform emergency roadside repair such as changing lights, small mechanical problems.
  12. Installation of tire chains if required.
  13. Properly secures cargo per DOT regulations.
  14. Able to climb on the trailer/load to install load support/tension chain.
  15. Responsible for safety, DOT, provincial and OSHA awareness.
  16. Participate and contribute to company safety programs.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Trucking: 3 years (preferred).
  2. Manual (Standard) transmission MUST have.
  3. Crane/boom/loader license or a combination of experience.
  4. Ability to navigate Toronto and the GTA on a daily basis.
  5. License/Certification: CDL and/or AZ Driver's License (required).
