Graduate of a recognized PCA / HCA program which includes a medication administration course or have taken a separate medication administration course.
Current approved standing with Alberta Health Care Aide directory.
Experience with seniors is required.
Responsibilities
Ability to work with minimum supervision and independently, evaluating and meeting the residents’ service needs.
Maintain effective oral and written communications in English, fostering excellent human relations with residents, families, and team members.
Perform duties with an acceptable standard of skill and responsibility, providing personal care and service to residents.
Assist with and/or dispense and administer medication delivery, ensuring required documentation of all medications.
Observe and report changes in residents’ physical and emotional condition.
Participate in the overall activation process developed by the residence to promote the well-being of each resident.
Maintain a safe, neat, clean environment for residents and staff, reporting any unsafe work condition immediately.
Monitor residents regularly to ensure their safety and well-being, documenting any unusual occurrences.
Seek out in-service education opportunities to improve personal practice.
Participate in the Residence’s ongoing programs such as Fire prevention, pest control, and infection control.
Handle all matters in a confidential manner.
Perform other duties as assigned with a high standard of skill and responsibility.
