Job summary

Canadian Tire's Party City division in Toronto, ON seeks a Category Business Analyst to join the buying team. This role blends retail analytics, product development, and trend-driven merchandising to drive smart assortment decisions.

You'll work with the Category Business Manager on assortment planning, line reviews, vendor management, and omnichannel execution, turning data into actionable insights that influence product stories and ranges.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Retail Management, Data Analytics, or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate data into insights and recommendations.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with data reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze sales, margin, inventory, market, and customer data to identify category risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
• Support assortment planning and line reviews by preparing analysis, product comparisons, presentations, and recommendations.
• Coordinate key category milestones and deliverables with timelines, decisions, and approvals.
• Support product development from concept through execution, including samples, artwork, packaging, costing, and information.
• Partner with vendors to follow up on submissions, samples, timelines, product details, and outstanding actions.
• Monitor emerging trends in party, colour, design, licensed, and social areas to identify opportunities.
• Maintain SKU, vendor, pricing, and promotional data across systems and reports.
• Review product samples, packaging, artwork, and digital content for brand consistency.
• Support promotional, in-store, and digital execution with marketing, operations, supply chain, and eCommerce teams.
• Track category performance and communicate wins, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
