CCI INC. is seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to lead trenchless engineering projects from proposal through final delivery. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate resources, and ensure scope, schedule, budget, and quality meet client expectations across North America.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to continuous improvement, and support business development while upholding safety and quality standards. Office-based role with periodic travel to project sites.

Formación

  • Minimum 4 years of trenchless/pipeline project experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration or eligible for registration (APEGA or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of trenchless technologies and utility construction.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and reviewing engineering drawings.
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized projects.

Summary of Position:

We are currently seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to join our Trenchless Engineering team. Reporting to the Trenchless Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for leading the successful execution of trenchless engineering projects from proposal through final delivery.

The successful candidate will manage multidisciplinary project teams, coordinate engineering and technical resources, oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements, and maintain strong client relationships throughout project execution. This role combines technical engineering expertise with project leadership and provides an opportunity to work on a diverse range of trenchless projects throughout North America.

Accountabilities:
  • Manage trenchless engineering projects through all phases of execution, including scope development, planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, and project closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource requirements while ensuring project milestones, deliverables, quality objectives, and client expectations are achieved.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, EITs, drafters, technical specialists, and support staff to successfully execute project deliverables.
  • Monitor project performance and provide regular updates regarding project status, financial performance, resource requirements, project risks, technical challenges, and client interactions.
  • Work closely with Project Controls to manage project financial performance, including cost reporting, forecasting, invoicing support, change orders, and scope management.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with CCI quality management procedures, client requirements, applicable regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Support and contribute to technical project deliverables including feasibility assessments, route evaluations, trenchless crossing recommendations, engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, design drawings, cost estimates, and construction support documentation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and subcontractors while supporting business development, presentations, and identification of new opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and professional development support to junior engineers, EITs, and technical staff.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including project delivery processes, technical standards, templates, lessons learned, and departmental best practices.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university (Civil, Geotechnical, or Mechanical preferred).
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA or another Canadian provincial engineering association (additional P.Eng. registrations considered an asset).
  • Minimum 4 years of engineering experience related to trenchless, pipeline, utility, or linear infrastructure projects; construction and/or field experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong technical understanding of trenchless technologies, pipeline systems, and utility construction methods.
  • Experience preparing design documentation, hydraulic fracture assessments, trenchless design calculations, and crossing feasibility evaluations.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and experience reviewing, interpreting, and coordinating engineering drawing packages, including plan and profile drawings, utility crossing drawings, and construction documentation.
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized engineering projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and client coordination.
  • Experience with Direct Pipe®, tunnelling, microtunnelling, auger bore, or other advanced trenchless construction methods is required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to evaluate technical information and develop practical solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and technical report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and willingness to assume increasing responsibilities.
