Job description

Organizational Description: Community Therapy Services is a private, non-profit agency that provides occupational therapy and physiotherapy services to meet the rehabilitation needs of individuals, care providers, and care organizations in Manitoba.

Volunteer Opportunity Details

Volunteer Opportunity ID: 5697

Description of Duties:

The Board Treasurer utilizes their expertise to oversee all financial decisions and affairs, ensuring they align with the organization's goals and objectives. The volunteer Treasurer will assume a leadership role on the board on all financial matters.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Review the monthly financial reports, lending expertise as needed
  • Support the development of a yearly budget
  • Support the annual financial audit process
  • Review and act as co-signatory to the Annual Financial Statement, reporting to the Board of Directors at the AGM
  • Act as a signatory on cheques, other financial statements, and funding as applicable
  • Provide advice and lend expertise to CTS Executive Director on financial matters as needed
  • Act as the content expert surrounding all financial management
  • Chair the finance committee and those involved, reporting to the President of the Board
  • Liaise with external auditors as needed
  • Be aware of CRA policies/regulatory requirements with respect to financial compliance
  • Perform such other tasks as may be assigned by the Board Chair.
Skills Required:

Post-secondary education with a major in accounting; CPA / CMA designation is an asset.

Strong background in finance, accounting, or related fields. Familiarity with financial principles, budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis is essential.

Strong sense of integrity, ethics, and a commitment to transparency and accountability.

Prior experience working with nonprofits or a good understanding of the nonprofit sector is highly valuable.

Time Commitment:

Evening, Remote Volunteering

Virtual monthly meetings are held every third Wednesday of the month, typically lasting 1-1.5 hours. Occasional additional time may be required outside of meetings to fulfill board duties.
