Job description

1-year renewable term, 3-year commitment

If you live or work in the Burlington or Halton area and are searching for a rewarding volunteer opportunity, BurlingtonGreen (BG) offers a meaningful role on our Board of Directors. Join our team to shape our strategic direction and make a community and environmental impact.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to serve as our next Treasurer, ideally with a strong background in accounting and auditing.

The annual commitment is approximately 100 hours, including Board meetings and committee work. Directors serve for an initial one-year renewable term, with a potential 3-year commitment.

Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with the Executive Director to prepare an annual budget for Board approval.
  2. Prepare and distribute quarterly financial statements and report financial updates regularly.
  3. Present annual financial statements at the Annual General Meeting.
  4. Ensure adherence to financial policies and fiduciary responsibilities under regulation and statute.
  5. Coordinate with an external auditor for annual audits.
  6. Prepare GST rebate submissions and ensure timely, correct submission of annual tax returns.
Additional Duties
  1. Attend monthly Board and Committee meetings and participate in events and fundraising activities.
  2. Contribute to strategic decisions to enhance BurlingtonGreen’s impact and financial security.
  3. Bring your unique experience and adhere to our communication and professional standards.
  4. Monitor financial and fundraising performance, policy compliance, and oversee the Executive Director’s review.
