Job summary

Base pay range: $23.00 / hr - $27.00 / hr

Position Summary

The Dental Assistant performs various duties to promote a safe and clean environment for quality dental care. Responsibilities include assisting the doctor, communicating with patients, maintaining equipment, sterilizing instruments, and adhering to OSHA, HIPAA, and dental board regulations.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities
  • Open and close the back office as instructed.
  • Prepare trays and operatories for procedures.
  • Ensure operatories are stocked and cleaned.
  • Greet and seat patients, ensuring operatory cleanliness.
  • Check patient signatures on forms.
  • Assist the doctor during procedures and document activities.
  • Explain treatment plans to patients.
  • Escort patients to front desk and inform staff of next appointments.
  • Disinfect and sterilize areas and instruments.
  • Prepare lab cases and maintain logs.
  • Follow waste disposal procedures.
Other Duties and Requirements
  • Verify lab cases and reschedule if needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum one year of recent Dental Assistant experience preferred.
  • Current X-ray License required.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred.
  • CPR and Infection Control Certification required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Technological Skills
  • Autoclave, Ultrasonic, Intra-oral Camera, O2 and N2O, Handpieces, Digital X-ray.
Work Schedule

Schedule is communicated weekly or monthly and may vary. Evening and weekend hours may be required. Pay is hourly.

Physical Demands

Requires standing, sitting, walking, manual dexterity, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other physical activities. Exposure to chemicals, radiation, and infectious materials is possible.

Work in a dental office environment with potential exposure to hazards. Reasonable accommodations are provided.

Independent Action

Under supervision, perform duties with some independent judgment. Do not perform functions outside legal scope.
