Job summary

RhynoCare is seeking an experienced Cook to work in Long Term Care facilities in Haliburton, Ontario. This is a travel, full-time position requiring relocation for up to 3 months, hired as an Independent Contractor.

You will plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals, ensure food safety, and collaborate with dietary staff to meet residents' needs. Competitive pay at $27 per hour plus ongoing support from RhynoCare.

Qualifications

• Completion/enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program per Ontario LTC Act.
• Chef/Cook certification from a recognized community college; Red Seal preferred.
• Must hold a Food Handler's Certificate and keep it up to date.
• Experience in LTC or with seniors is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals per dietary/menu plans.
• Serve meals at correct temperature and on time.
• Assist with meal service and respect resident preferences.
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
• Collaborate on menus with dietary staff to meet nutritional needs.
• Assist with cost control, waste management, and ordering.
• Monitor inventory and coordinate supply orders.
• Ensure compliance with Public Health and LTC requirements.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals in accordance with dietary requirements and menu plans ensuring all standards are met.
• Ensure meals are served at the appropriate temperature and in a timely manner.
• Assisting with the serving of meals to residents ensuring resident food preferences are respected.
• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage and handling of food.
• Collaborate with dietary staff to develop menus that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of residents.
• Assist the Food and Nutrition Manager in control of food costs, waste, and ordering.
• Monitor food inventory and communicate to the appropriate channels to coordinate ordering of supplies.
• Ensure all Public Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care requirements are met.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
• Assist with special events and catering as required.

Requirements

• Successful completion and/or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act required.
• Chef/Cook Certification from a recognized community college, preferably Red Seal
• Must have a Food Handler's Certificate and keep it up to date
• Experience in a Long-Term Care setting or with seniors is preferred

Compensation

• Pay: $27/ hour
