Unity Health Toronto is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join a fast-paced inpatient unit in a surgical setting, providing holistic, evidence-based nursing care to neurosurgery and trauma patients.

The RPN will work within inter-professional teams to ensure safe, effective care, accurate documentation and active participation in discharge planning, aligned with Ontario College of Nurses standards and Unity Health Toronto's mission.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Practical Nursing Diploma Program.
• Current Registration with College of Nurses of Ontario (General or Temporary Class).
• BLS Certification required.
• Must have worked as an RPN within the last year.
• Must have inpatient surgical ward experience within the last 2 years or placement experience on inpatient surgical ward within the last 2 years.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other professions / disciplines in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Proven planning, time management, organization and coordination skills.
• Experience caring for patients post-operatively.
• Excellent patient teaching skills.
• Evidence of ongoing professional and educational development.

Responsabilités

• Provide holistic, evidence-based, culturally appropriate, patient-centred quality care in accordance with Ontario nursing standards.
• Establish therapeutic relationships and coordinate patient care activities for optimal outcomes.
• Collaborate with the care team and document observations and care provision.
• Participate in discharge planning and care transitions to ensure continuity.
• Organize patient care activities with inter-professional teams to optimize resources.
• Lead and mentor students, co-workers and other health professionals as needed.
