Qualifications

• Valid Alberta Class 4 Driver’s Licence and continued ability to meet SEA requirements.
• Driving record acceptable to Stoney Education Authority.
• Experience working with children or youth with high needs.
• Ability to remain calm, assess risk and follow plans in changing situations.
• Strong communication, observation, relationship-building and documentation skills.
• Physical ability to assist students and operate accessibility equipment as required.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality for scheduled transportation.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate SEA vehicles and complete routes in accordance with laws and SEA procedures.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, child checks, route records and incident documentation.
• Follow authorized routes, stops, passenger lists and student-specific transportation instructions.
• Ensure students are safely boarded, seated and secured using seatbelts and mobility equipment.
• Provide calm, patient and trauma-informed support during transportation.
• Follow student transportation plans, safety plans, medical alerts and approved strategies.
• Maintain handoff procedures and release students to authorized adults or designated staff.
• Operate accessibility equipment only when trained; report concerns immediately.
• Communicate delays or safety concerns promptly with the Transportation Manager and school staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with students and families.
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean, orderly and safe.
