Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Transportation/Traffic Engineer to join the Infrastructure group in our Highways & Bridges team in the Calgary, AB location. This role will be managing a wide range of transportation planning and traffic/transit operations projects.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Project leadership on various project tasks such as:
    • Complex planning studies.
    • Transportation and infrastructure master plans.
    • Environmental assessments.
    • Traffic engineering and transportation studies.
    • Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA/TIS) reports.
  • Lead development on conceptual and functional level designs, traffic operations and safety reviews involving urban and rural roads.
  • Lead or participate in client and contractor meetings.
  • Project management of municipal infrastructure designs including road reconstruction and infrastructure improvement.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff through all stages of multiple projects, at various stages of development.
  • Engage in active business development for civil transportation projects.
  • Ensure project needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
  • Project leadership on all aspects of project life cycle, including:
    • Scheduling.
    • Cost management.
    • Resource planning.
    • Client management.
    • Project close-off.

You bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited University in Civil Engineering, with a strong emphasis on transportation or traffic engineering.
  • 10+ years’ experience in the design and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects; public sector projects preferred.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta is required.
  • Experience within a consultancy environment, and for Alberta projects.
  • Extensive experience in the following areas is a must:
    • Traffic operations.
    • Transportation modelling.
    • Transit planning and/or operations.
    • Safety assessment.
    • Functional roadway design.
    • Intelligent transportation systems.
  • Well-organized and ability to meet client, budget and schedule requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with multiple disciplines.
  • Results-oriented with proven decision-making skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions
