Qualifications

Your Opportunity

Be part of a dynamic team designing innovative solutions for diverse clients. Our Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering (TPTE) group offers comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services. We are seeking an intermediate transportation planner/engineer to join our team.

As a Transportation Planner/Engineer, you will work on various transportation projects, providing supervision and guidance to junior staff, ensuring accuracy, and managing project schedules and budgets. The ideal candidate is a problem solver with experience in engineering and planning projects, regulatory understanding, excellent communication skills, and experience in transportation planning, data analysis, and modeling.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, conduct, and coordinate technical aspects of projects
  • Apply knowledge of transportation planning, modeling, and traffic engineering
  • Conduct transportation and traffic analyses, prepare reports, and perform studies
  • Gather data, prepare reports, and conduct transportation studies
  • Coordinate with clients and agencies
  • Ensure quality and regulatory compliance of technical products
  • Prepare technical reports for various transportation studies
  • Assist in project coordination and client communication
  • Perform research to support new projects
  • Assist with proposals and marketing
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation planning/traffic engineering; Canadian experience preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and judgment skills
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering concepts and software (e.g., Synchro, SIDRA)
  • Understanding of legal and planning procedures
  • Experience managing small projects
  • Experience in road safety studies
  • Ability to work independently and within timelines and budgets
  • Experience with transportation demand forecasting software is an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Access and MS Project is a plus
  • Effective communication and analytical skills
  • Additional skills in transit planning, active transportation, scripting, GIS, AutoCAD, and municipal standards are assets
  • Possession of or ability to obtain P.Eng., RPP, or RSP certification is preferred
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred
  • Related experience with active certifications as noted above
  • Hybrid work environment with some travel required
