Role description:

This is an exciting opportunity for those seeking a career in transportation planning to gain experience working on major multi-modal transportation studies across Canada. The primary role is to perform research, data analysis, policy development, and report writing to support a range of multi-modal transportation planning studies related to transportation master planning, travel demand forecasting, transportation system/network planning and operations, environmental assessments and other sustainable transportation initiatives.

This position is all about helping cities improve mobility and access while reducing reliance on automobiles and supporting broader city building goals related to sustainability, equity and compact development. Our team undertakes the complex challenge of supporting these goals by planning a transportation system designed to encourage and enable more sustainable transportation options.

Role accountabilities:

  • Researching best practices in sustainable transportation
  • Assisting in evaluating planning solutions through the development of multi-criteria evaluation frameworks and key performance indicators
  • Interpreting technical analysis towards writing sections of reports and plans that clearly highlight key takeaways
  • Conducting data analysis to understand key mobility trends such as transit ridership, service delivery, mode share etc.
  • Assisting in researching and developing sustainable transportation policies
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of public and stakeholder engagement including tracking correspondence and maintaining records
  • Supporting business development and proposal initiatives
  • Leading the preparation of technical reports, meeting materials, meeting minutes and presentation decks

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or in civil engineering.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively independently and on a team
  • Strong interest in transportation planning
  • Intermediate/advanced excel and/or GIS skills are considered an asset.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Access and Python are considered an asset.

The salary range for this position is $54,000-84,000 per year. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
