We are looking for an intermediate planner / analyst to join our Transport, Logistics, and Urban Planning team in one of our offices in Canada (Toronto, Calgary, or Ottawa), delivering projects in Canada and internationally. We seek a versatile consultant with a strong interest in supporting the development of sustainable and equitable places.

The ~20-person Transport, Logistics, and Urban Planning Team includes transportation planners, urban planners, engineers, and consultants from diverse educational and professional backgrounds. With team members in Toronto and Montreal, we deliver projects throughout the urban infrastructure lifecycle at the site, neighborhood, and city-wide scales, supporting large projects with advice on multi-modal transportation planning, design, and operations.

Current projects include:

  • GO Expansion – ONCorr
  • Eglinton Crosstown West Extension
  • VIA High Frequency Rail
  • Brampton Major Transit Station Areas Transport and Land Use Studies
  • Woodbine GO station land use study

  • Contribute to research, analysis, and studies examining the urban, transportation, and policy contexts of projects.
  • Work collaboratively with peers to define planning and design solutions.
  • Perform analyses to support project outcomes, including reviews of census and travel data, spatial analysis of transportation networks and site areas, and qualitative/quantitative assessments of multi-modal transportation system performance.
  • Participate in project workshops and multidisciplinary meetings, providing input on street and station area planning, placemaking, usability, and transportation system planning.
  • Support project design and approval processes through technical studies, planning research, report drafting, and responses to client feedback.
  • Prepare high-quality deliverables, including reports, presentations, and visual communications using industry-standard graphic tools, for internal and client presentations.
  • Organize your contributions on projects and support project coordination and bid activities.

Requirements:

  • Years of professional experience in transportation and infrastructure planning.
  • Educational background in transportation planning, traffic/transportation engineering, urban planning, spatial analysis, or related fields.
  • Awareness of local transportation and development planning in Canadian locations.
  • Excellent report-writing skills and ability to communicate effectively in various formats.
  • Strong numeracy skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in geospatial analysis and GIS software.
  • Experience with quantitative analysis or simulation packages for multimodal transportation analysis.
  • Experience with scripting packages like R, Python, FME, etc.
  • Experience with 2D/3D drawing tools such as CAD, SketchUp, Rhino.
  • Experience in providing technical training to peers and newer colleagues.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations (achieved or in progress).
  • Expertise in ITS, future mobility, and active travel is a plus.
