Responsibilities:
- Achieve all safety, service, and cost targets in the Transportation department.
- Plan and coordinate transportation activities.
- Optimize routes and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and standards.
- Manage transportation budgets and costs.
- Monitor and improve transportation performance.
- Supervise transportation staff.
- Promote a safety-first culture through procedures, training, and leadership.
- Build high-performing teams by reviewing staffing, interviewing, hiring, and evaluating performance.
- Analyze daily performance metrics; identify issues; recommend improvements to the Director of Operations.
- Oversee maintenance of driver qualification files.
- Investigate accidents, maintain records, and implement preventative measures.
- Schedule shifts effectively using planning tools to ensure timely deliveries.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in transportation distribution.
- At least 5+ years in a managerial role.
- Commercial license preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Knowledge of:
- Transportation and delivery operations, methods, and procedures.
- Target data system (WMS), BFC (WMS), Descartes routing software, Geotab fleet management, and ELD (HOS).
- Samba Safety and Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting.
