Job description

Responsibilities:

• Achieve all safety, service, and cost targets in the Transportation department.
• Plan and coordinate transportation activities.
• Optimize routes and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and standards.
• Manage transportation budgets and costs.
• Monitor and improve transportation performance.
• Supervise transportation staff.
• Promote a safety-first culture through procedures, training, and leadership.
• Build high-performing teams by reviewing staffing, interviewing, hiring, and evaluating performance.
• Analyze daily performance metrics; identify issues; recommend improvements to the Director of Operations.
• Oversee maintenance of driver qualification files.
• Investigate accidents, maintain records, and implement preventative measures.
• Schedule shifts effectively using planning tools to ensure timely deliveries.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in transportation distribution.
• At least 5+ years in a managerial role.
• Commercial license preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Knowledge of:

• Transportation and delivery operations, methods, and procedures.
• Target data system (WMS), BFC (WMS), Descartes routing software, Geotab fleet management, and ELD (HOS).
• Samba Safety and Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting.
