Job Description:

As a Transportation Manager, you will direct all functions of the Transportation Department including creating and managing the annual business plans. You will manage a team of supervisors and associated transportation personnel, third-party vendors, and drivers. A successful candidate will be a self-starter who drives compliance. This opportunity is a balance of people leadership skills (Servant Leadership), systems expertise (Samsara, SAE DriverPro, Power BI), and drilling down into reporting to uncover trends and areas of high performance (or opportunity).

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manages the daily work of the transportation supervisors and routing personnel.
  • Ensures daily compliance to Samsara safety scores, camera & gateway health, on time delivery, driver qualification file compliance (JJ Keller).
  • Coordinating maintenance and repairs of vehicles through third-party.
  • High level of financial acumen, skilled at managing a transportation budget and understanding what levers to pull to drive efficiencies.
  • Can take KPI's and turn them into tangible actions.
  • Accountable for the approval and accuracy of all aspects of driver pay.
  • Understands and can interpret a CBA, participates in grievance or arbitration procedures.
  • Maintains employee relationships through regular department meetings, answers questions about policies or procedures, and drives positive morale.
  • Maintaining a safe and secure working environment by promoting and managing safety.
  • Fostering professional growth of department personnel through performance management.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Core-Mark and government regulations.
  • Assisting in the overall selection, hiring, and management of department personnel.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 2 years of higher education.
  • 5-7 years of transportation supervisory/management experience.
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in budget creation and management.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of commercial vehicle regulations.
  • Ability to analyze and critically evaluate situations.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Experience managing a large (province-wide) delivery area.
