Job summary

Arrow Group of Companies in Kamloops, BC is seeking a Transportation Coordinator for Kamloops Fibre. You will coordinate routing and scheduling of daily trucking services, focus on safety, productivity and customer service, and report to the Division Manager.

Ideal candidates have Grade 12, 1–3 years in transportation, strong organization, communication and problem-solving skills, and are comfortable using Microsoft Office. This full-time position offers benefits and a pension.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent and 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• Preference for post-secondary education.
• Experience in the transportation industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate routing and scheduling of drivers and equipment.
• Maximize payload and productivity while ensuring safety and compliance.
• Communicate with drivers and customers regarding plans and deviations.
• Oversee allocation of spare drivers as needed.
• Monitor road conditions and adjust schedules accordingly.
• Ensure timely driver paperwork and reporting.
• Support maintenance scheduling with shop personnel.
• Uphold safety policies and company metrics.

The Kamloops Fibre Trucking Division specializes in serving key customers by hauling wood fibre, including wood chips, sawdust and hogfuel, from various origins to key customer destinations in the Interior and Lower Mainland BC. Approximately 160 employees report into Kamloops Fibre Trucking Division including Company Drivers, Lease Operators, Shop Staff and Office Staff.

We are looking for a Transportation Coordinator for our largest Trucking Division - Kamloops Fibre. Working directly under the Division Manager, this role best suits a motivated individual with an analytical mindset and a desire to advance their leadership abilities. As many of our Operation Supervisors begin their careers in this role, it is imperative to have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to adapt and pivot when required and to be technologically proficient.

Responsibilities

TheTransportation Coordinator’sprimary role is to coordinate and oversee the routing and scheduling of our daily trucking services to meet customer requirements focusing on maximizing payload and productivity in a safe and effective manner. Taking direction from the Division Manager, Operations Supervisor and/or Senior Transportation Coordinators, this role is entry level and theknowledge requirements,responsibility and scope associatedarenot as great as with more senior levels of the position.

Major Responsibilities

• Follows and carries out the planandhasoversight ofthe routing and scheduling of drivers andequipment andassures compliance with time schedules and applicable laws, codes,rulesand regulations.
• Ensures the drivers have the proper instructions to perform their duties safely and listens to all driver concerns and actson them appropriately.
• Ensures that schedules are carried out in an effective and efficient manner. Coordinates the daily assignment of company and contracted resources to maximize equipment productivity and payload whilemaintaininga high levelof customer service.
• Makes necessary adjustments for road closures, overloads,latenessand related problems.
• Communicates regularly with the drivers toassistand manage implications caused by truck problems,latenessand accidents.
• Communicates with the customer to report compliance to daily targets as well as course of action should deviation to plans occur.
• Oversees the assignment of spare drivers should there be a short or long-term shortfall of regular drivers.
• Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulationsparticipateinidentifyinghazards
• Complywithall rules and regulations,protocolsand established metrics
• Continuously surveys the existing trucking program for safety and cost improvement opportunities andadvises the manager of ways to improve current systems.
• Assistsin the implementation of policy and process improvement.
• Confersand coordinateswithshop personnel as well asdriversregardingrepairs and preventative maintenance schedules and timelines.
• Responsible for collecting and reviewing driver paperwork and ensuring it is complete,accurateandtimely.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
• Other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisorand/orDivision Manager.

• Grade 12 or equivalent and 1-3 years of relevant experience
