Based in Toronto and reporting to the Senior Associate - Technologist Group Lead, the Regional BIM Manager will primarily be responsible for model and drawing production, resource management, and quality control. The opportunity for increased responsibilities in office and field roles also exists. You will be working collaboratively with the project team and client from initial model development to final construction document issuance.
What will you do?
The role involves primarily office work and includes the following general tasks :
- Structural BIM modelling and project coordination. Working in conjunction with the Project Principal, Project Engineer, client, and other members of the design team you will complete projects of varying size and complexity from start to finish.
- Serve as a client-facing lead in structural BIM modeling and project coordination.
- Management of asset information / parameters within models and development of asset information libraries, where required by clients.
- Maintain a high utilization of BIM staff for your region through effective delegation of tasks to intermediate and junior BIM staff.
- Oversee the work of junior technologists, providing guidance and mentorship while ensuring a high-quality deliverable to our clients.
- Participate in global weekly resource meetings to secure additional resources or additional tasks, depending on project demands, as required.
- Coordinate the responsibilities associated with managing and producing drawings for structural projects, including managing specific files and directories and inter-discipline coordination with outside parties.
- Review and coordinate project BIM Execution Plans, and participate in client meetings.
- Support the creation of standards and methods to further the strategic development of relevant BIM technologies.
Requirements
- 2-year diploma in engineering or architectural technology from an accredited technical school.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in the transportation or bridge sectors.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Detailed knowledge of and ability to use both Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience working with various geographic coordinate systems (GCS). Experience training and managing a BIM team.
- Working knowledge of and ability to use programs such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Interest in applying new technology to support project processes and efficiencies.
- Experience performing as a prime consultant and managing / coordinating the deliverables of sub-consultants.
- Hands-on construction experience and / or work with existing facilities is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D or Microstation is considered an asset.
- Knowledge and interest related to embodied carbon is considered an asset.
- Experience working with the ISO 19650 standard is considered an asset.
