Job summary

Black Hand Transport Inc based in Red Deer, AB invites applications for the Transport driver role. The position is permanent, full-time, with 40–50 hours per week and requires CDL Class 1, air brakes, and H2S awareness. You should hold a valid driver’s license, First Aid, and pass safety checks.

Overtime may be required, and the team will operate tractor-trailer equipment across provincial routes. Fluent English, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a well-organized, team-oriented

Qualifications

• Fluent in English.

• 3–5 years of trucking experience.
• Air Brakes Endorsement Certificate.
• Driver’s License Class 1 or A.

• Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate.
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Well-organized and a good team player.
• Experience with driver logbooks.
• Experience with tractor-trailer and B train.
• GPS navigation and CB radio familiarity.
• Regional travel experience.
• Licence validity checks and drug tests may be required.

Documentation Knowledge

Type of Trucking and Equipment

Communication Systems Experience

• The candidate should be proficient in Operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.
• The candidate should be familiar with Citizens Band (CB) radio.

Transportation/Travel Experience

• The candidate should be familiar with provincial/territorial and regional regions.
• The candidate should have experience in running Long-haul and Short-haul trips.

Security and Safety

• The candidate should undergo a thorough driver’s licence validity check, driving record check (abstract) and drug test

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• The candidate should have an eye for details.
• The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
• The candidate should be willing to work overtime if necessary.
• The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks on frequent basis.
