Role: Transmission Stations Project Engineer

Location of Services: Edmonds, BC - on site 2 days per week

Work Assignment Overview: Sr Project Engineer to manage Stations Projects in Transmission Stations Engineering.

Estimated Work Start Date: 28-Apr-2025

Estimated Work End Date: 28-Apr-2027

Max Incorporated Rate: $110.11
Max T4 Rate: $91.00

Experience and Role Accountabilities
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.
  • Develop safe engineering solutions using initiative and judgment, including designing, analyzing, resolving problems, and interpreting engineering specifications for BC Hydro projects and operations.
  • Assist project or operations management to meet safety, cost, quality, and time objectives by proposing plan changes, recommending payments, preparing reports, and coordinating schedules.
  • Resolve technical design and field engineering problems through independent studies and analysis, exercising judgment to recommend safe engineering designs for successful operations and project completion.
  • Contribute to BC Hydro’s engineering practice by conducting studies, developing standards, and guiding other engineering professionals.
Important Notes
  • Candidate must have their own or their firm’s Permit to Practice with EGBC prior to assignment.
  • Work under BC Hydro’s Professional Practice Management Plan, applying their Permit to Practice Number to Sealed work.
  • All project documentation produced will be retained by BC Hydro.
Education and Skills
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or eligible for registration.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems, drawing standards, and industry design/analysis software.
  • Intermediate English skills (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Role Specialty Description
  • At least eight (8) years of substation engineering experience, including significant utility industry work, with a relevant degree.
  • Experience leading multi-discipline design teams, protection, control, and telecom systems.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and transmission system design.
  • Understanding of transmission lines design is an asset.
Work Assignment Requirements
  • Work in the office two days a week.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Ability to travel to various BC station locations as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Project Managers and Delivery Partners.
