Qualifications

• Journeyman status as a Power Lineman/Power Systems Electrician is an asset.
• Knowledge of Alberta Transmission system is a plus.
• Proficient in working with electrical isolating procedures.

Job Description:

An opportunity exists for a Transmission Scheduler within the System Operations team. The role of Transmission Outage Scheduler is to develop and coordinate long term outage plans and short-term outage schedules for AltaLink's Transmission system. Preferences will be given to applicants with experience in high voltage transmission equipment and System operations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and coordinate planned, and urgent transmission outage plans with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of AltaLink System Operations
• Build and continue to improve on relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Determine power system impacts and best times for planned outages based on customer outage opportunities and power system constraints
• Develop switching single line diagrams, EMS display mark ups and switching procedures for planned interruptions
• Coordinate external switching resources and load transfer plans as required
• Conscious and continuous application of safety standards through job planning process.
• Review and approve energization plans for Commissioning of new equipment for AltaLink Transmission facilities
• Act as the liaison between multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, to reach collective agreement for outages and in compliance with ISO Rules 306.4
  
  
  

Requirements

• Diploma from a recognized technical school as an Electrical Technologist or equivalent.
• Journeyman status as a Power Lineman/Power Systems Electrician or equivalent field experience will be an asset
• Previous hands-on experience and knowledge of isolating electrical equipment (Lock-Out/Tag-Out or Guarantee of Isolation) and System Operations is an asset
• Must have knowledge of transmission facilities and substation equipment. Knowledge of the Alberta and/or AltaLink Transmission system is a plus
• Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities
• Demonstrated competency working with standard business software (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Sharepoint and SAP)
• Hands on experience with GE Eterra Energy Management System (EMS) is an asset
• Must be detail oriented
• Must have the ability to organize and prioritize large volumes of complex work
• Must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and independently
• Must have the ability to work in a team environment and fully engage other team members in a constructive way
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in customer service utilizing strong listening and collaborating skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
