This role involves close collaboration with clients and stakeholders to understand their engineering needs, ensuring successful project coordination. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise and consulting experience, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will provide transmission line design and engineering consulting services to major power and energy utility clients, independent power producers, and energy project developers;

  • You will work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary engineering team to design transmission lines rated at 34.5 kV to 735 kV;
  • You will develop electrical calculations for conductor sizing, EMF reports, corona, foundation design, and others as needed;
  • You will design and prepare grounding drawings according to national and utility standards;
  • You will design and conduct analysis of underground transmission lines including ampacity calculations for cable selection, site studies for cable crossings, selection of accessories and components, and preparation of accessory estimates and drawings;
  • You will prepare project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation;
  • You will deliver thorough substation dead ends and transmission line designs that meet industry standards and specifications;
  • You will review internal and external designs for code compliance and constructability;
  • You will resolve site queries, attend site meetings, and perform site inspections during the construction phase of projects;
  • You will maintain complete project documentation with respect to transmission line design and construction;
  • You will maintain good working relationships with internal groups, material suppliers, contractors, and others affecting project quality, schedule, and cost;
  • You will collect, compile, and analyze data relating to transmission line components and equipment specifications;
  • You will support project teams with research and recommendations of components identified in design requirements;
  • You will verify the characteristics of a site, providing technical assistance on various engineering issues;
  • You will prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, and illustrations;
  • You will maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurements and reporting;
  • You will contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations;
  • You will conduct engineering studies and surveys to gain further information on design and construction problems;
  • You will work collaboratively with other engineers on projects with electrical infrastructure authorities;
  • You will exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources;
  • You will perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

What you’ll bring to WSP:
