Job summary

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Transmission Line Engineer to join our Power Delivery team in Western Canada, with a preference for Edmonton. You will lead design of transmission lines from 34.5kV to 500kV, guide deliverables, and work with clients, utilities and field teams.

You bring 5–10 years of transmission design experience, a P.Eng. license, and proficiency with PLS tools, AutoCAD/MicroStation, MFAD and MS Project.

Qualifications

• Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering Physics degree from an accredited university.
• 5–10 years experience in transmission design including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and bid package development.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Lite.
• Experience in a Project Engineering or Project Management capacity working with multidisciplinary teams on complex projects.
• Must have Professional Engineering license (P.Eng.).
• Experience with AutoCAD/Microstation, MFAD, and Microsoft Project is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of transmission line routing, field program planning, project management, EPC projects, and line construction.
• Distribution/underbuild design experience is a plus.
• Managerial and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission line design projects (34.5kV–500kV).
• Prepare and review design deliverables (drawings, material, specs).
• Conduct quality reviews of internal and subcontractor work.
• Manage multiple projects within budget and schedule.
• Evaluate design options and routes for merit.
• Apply construction standards for high voltage work.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to satisfy clients.
• Serve as Technical Project Management Lead and maintain client relationships.
• Manage project reporting, invoicing, and AR/unbilled work.
• Develop and monitor scope, schedules, budgets against plan.
• Ensure adherence to budget, schedule, quality.
• Travel to client offices/field sites as required.
• Support business development and proposal preparation.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to the project team.
