Qualifications

  • Must have Red Seal Powerline Technician Certificate or relevant apprenticeship experience.
  • Working at Heights Certificate and Class 1 or 3 license are assets.

Job Description

Valard Construction LP is seeking qualified Transmission Journeyman Powerline Technicians/Apprentices to join our operations based in Calgary, Alberta. We are looking for self-motivated, team players who are willing to work as part of a dynamic team that provides crucial support to Valard’s projects.

Duties

  1. Install, maintain, and repair electrical transmission lines.
  2. Inspect and test transmission lines and auxiliary equipment to identify and resolve issues.
  3. Adhere to safe work practices and contribute to hazard assessments and safe work planning.
  4. Respond to emergencies and power outages, often working in various weather conditions.
  5. Operate various tools and equipment, including aerial lifts, digger derricks, hand tools, and power tools.
  6. Perform inspections and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues with electrical power systems.
  7. Climb various wood and steel powerline structures.

Qualifications

  1. Red Seal Powerline Technician Certificate or Powerline Technician Apprentices Transmission experience a must.
  2. Working at Heights Certificate.
  3. Standard First Aid (CPR/AED) is considered an asset.
  4. Class 1 or Class 3 license is considered an asset.
  5. Positive Attitude and good work ethic.
