Job summary

Primerica is seeking a bilingual English/French translator to translate documents and software for projects, with a focus on life insurance and mutual fund materials. You will ensure accurate terminology transfer and revisions of internal/external translations while maintaining high-quality standards.

Ideal candidates hold a translation degree, are proficient in MS Office, and can work independently in a fast-paced environment in Mississauga, Ontario.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in translation or equivalent.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
• Knowledge of terminology used in Life Insurance and Mutual Fund industries is an asset.
• Member of a registered translation organization (Ontario ATIO; Quebec OTTIAQ) is an asset.
• Strong computer competency; proficient in MS Office.
• Familiar with terminological databases (Termium Plus, Grand dictionnaire terminologique).
• Strong customer service skills; able to work professionally with others.

Responsibilities

• Translate documents between English and French (90%/10%).

About this Position

Salary range: $55,000 - $65,000

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Translates documents, correspondence and other material from English to French (90%) or French to English (10%)
• Ensures that messages are transferred from one language to the other in a way that ensures language accuracy
• Particular emphasis on documents pertaining to Life Insurance and Mutual Fund Investment products and may include legal documents, marketing materials, internal communications, management reports, presentations and client correspondence
• Translates software as required for projects
• Revision of documents translated externally and internally
• Other duties as may be assigned

Performance Expectations

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision but also amenable to direction and guidance
• Ability to work in a high paced, high volume environment with changing priorities and short deadlines
• Will be expected to manage several assignments and priorities at once
• Ensure consistency in terminology used across documents
• Detail oriented

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in translation or equivalent of knowledge and skills acquired through related work experience
• Superior verbal and written communication skills in English and French
• A demonstrated knowledge of technical terminology used in the Life Insurance and Mutual Fund industries will be considered an asset
• Member of a registered professional translation organization (in Ontario: ATIO; in Quebec: OTTIAQ) will be considered an asset
• Strong computer competency; Must be proficient in MS Office (word, excel, PowerPoint)
• Familiar with terminological databases (Termium Plus, Grand dictionnaire terminologique, etc.)
• Strong customer service skills; a demonstrated ability to work with others in a professional manner
