Transdev Canada is hiring a Casual Transit Bus Operators for our Kamloops location!

Your role

  • Enjoy interacting with the public;
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and demeanour;
  • Drive one of several different coach/buses or company non-revenue vehicles in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area within a daily assigned time schedule;
  • Maintain the appearance of the interior of the bus ;
  • Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections as required;
  • Assist in the boarding of passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids;
  • Complete and submit written reports concerning passengers and all accidents, and communicate with dispatch as required;
  • Operate on-board computer fare boxes and destination signs;
  • Perform all other duties assigned.

Your profile

  • A valid Class 2 BC Driver’s License with air brake endorsement (required);
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate/interact with the public (all levels of comprehension), management and other staff members in a courteous/respectful/efficient manner and to answer a variety of enquiries with tact and discretion;
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and problem solving skills;
  • A record of safe and responsible driving over the past 5 years (required);
  • A willingness to work a variety of shifts;
  • The ability to demonstrate proficiency in the safe and effective operation of a transit vehicle;
  • Applied knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health Act in relations to Transit Operators;
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards/safety precautions associated with a variety of transit work activities.
  • You must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing and background checks;

Your location

  • This is a casual, unionized position in Kamloops.
  • Transit environment: early, split & late shifts may be required
